Kmart employee dies from stabbing
Jeffrey Allen Campbell, Jr. was stabbed on May 9 while trying to escort his attacker out of the store
VISALIA – A Kmart employee who was stabbed trying to diffuse a volatile customer has died.
Jeffrey Allen Campbell Jr., 31, of Visalia died on May 11 from injuries suffered during an altercation with a man on May 9. Campbell was working at Kmart, located at 3247 W. Noble Ave. in Visalia, at about 5:30 p.m. that day when Jeremy Kechloian, 43, entered the store and began behaving irrationally. When Campbell tried to escort Kechloian out of the store, Kechloian stabbed the employee several times.
Campbell was treated at the scene and then transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia where he was in stable condition until Friday morning when he succumbed to his injuries.
Kechloian violent behavior continued while he was in custody when he assaulted arresting officers at Visalia Police Department headquarters. One of the officers sustained a minor injury. Kechloian was booked into the Tulare County Pre Trial Facility for murder, assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a peace officer.

At 6:40 p.m. in the 400 blk N/E 2nd, VPD’s Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at a residence related to 20-year-old Joshua Luis Del Villar, a documented Norteno gang member, violating the terms of his court ordered probation. During a search of the residence, a loaded assault rifle was located on a couch on the back patio. Jose Alberto Ponce, a 21-year-old Norteno gang member, was arrested for unlawful possession of an assault rifle and felony child endangerment. He was booked at the Tulare County Jail. Del Villar was not at the residence, but information was obtained he was in the city of Pismo Beach. Pismo Beach PD was contacted and they were provided with his location. Pismo Beach PD located Del Villar and arrested him for the probation violation warrant. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
At 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of W. Murray Ave., officers with the Visalia Police Department Narcotics and Property Crimes Units served a search warrant. During the search, officers seized 2.05 pounds of cocaine, 1.68 pounds of methamphetamine and $24,594 in cash. James McAllister, 40, was booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility on charges of possession of cocaine for sale, possession of methamphetamine for sale, and a no bail warrant for violation of probation.
At 9:52 a.m., officers responded to a call of a strong arm robbery in the area of Dinuba and Ferguson. Officers learned that the 60 year old male victim was threatened with bodily harm and had his bicycle stolen. Officers located all three suspects within a block of the crime. Augustin Alcantar, 18, Ramon Rodriguez, 19, and Kory Toscano, 23, were positively identified by the victim and arrested on robbery and conspiracy charges. The victim’s property was located and returned to him.

At 1:45 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Cherry Ave., officers with the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) conducted a probation search on a 16-year-old gang member. They located a stolen handgun in his bedroom. The juvenile was located at another location and taken into custody without incident. He was booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Hall. At 2:45 hours, SEU officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Buena Vista and Conyer Street in Visalia. The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Joseph Dean Stockton, was taken into custody without incident. Stockton is a documented gang member out of Porterville. He was booked at the Tulare County Jail.
