VUSD to break ground on new school

@TheSunGazette

visalia – Visalia Unified School District will break ground on a new elementary school near Riverway Sports Park with a ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 26.

The event will be held near Giddings and Shannon Parkway. Attendees may use the parking lot of Riverway Sports Park, 3611 N. Dinuba Blvd.

Attendees will include Todd Oto, Ed.D., the newly appointed superintendent of VUSD, members of the VUSD Board of Trustees, Visalia City Council members, the architect and builder, and representatives of the Tulare County Office of Education. The public is invited to attend.

The school will open in the fall of 2017. The principal, once selected, will work with staff and the community to determine the new school’s name and mascot.

“VUSD is committed to student success and achievement and providing quality facilities is an important component of that success,” Dr. Oto noted. “I am grateful to have a visionary team of VUSD staff members, talented architects and builders and a supportive community that work together for the good of our students.”
