Dirt bike rider in critical condition

visalia – Police are still unsure what caused a dirt bike rider to crash into a sedan in east Visalia Sunday night.

The accident happened at about 6:48 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Pinkham Street when a 2008 Yamaha dirt bike traveling eastbound on Walnut Avenue struck a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant heading northbound on Pinkham. The motorcycle rider, 33-year-old Kevin Jepson of Visalia, sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the car, 29-year-old Alfonso Alvarez of Visalia, was treated and released from the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation into the cause of this collision is continuing and being handled by the Visalia Police Traffic Unit.
