Tulare Co. appoints two new judges

Governor Jerry Brown announced the appointment of Tara Howard and Anthony Fultz as judges of the Tulare County Superior Court.

“We are delighted with the appointments,” said Presiding Judge Gary Paden, “Both attorneys appointed are well-respected by the bench and bar, and fill immediate needs for the court.”

Tara Howard, 47, is a private practitioner in Visalia. Ms. Howard served as a Deputy District Attorney in Tulare County 1996 to 2003 and was an associate at the Law Offices of Rasmussen, Howard and Libbey from 1994 to 1996. Howard earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on June 15, 2015.

Anthony Fultz, is currently Assistant District Attorney with the Office of the Tulare County District Attorney. He has worked at the Office of the District Attorney since December 2006, and prior to that from April 1993 through July 2005.

He also worked as a sole practitioner in Santa Barbara from July 2005 through December 2006.

He attended the University of Santa Clara graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986 and a Juris Doctorate in 1991. Fultz fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Paul Vortmann.
