Redwood Roundup: Redwood sweeps final series as El Diamante loses grasp on tie before playoffs

visalia – After finishing off their week going 2-0 to Mt. Whitney, Redwood cliched their outright title for WYL Championship. The team looks very strong heading into Division I playoffs as the No. 9 seed where they will play against 8th seed Frontier Titans on Wednesday in the first round.
In the first game on Tuesday, April 30, Redwood clinched their share of the title by winning 7-5 at Mt. Whitney. Redwood’s winning pitcher was Cam Gallardo with 2 strikeouts and 2 IPs. It was Hunter Bryan who brought the team on top though. Bryan pitched 5 innings with 9 strikeouts and also had a solid offensive game too. He went 2-4 with 2 runs, two RBI’s and a homer to lead the team to a victory. Ethan Garcia had 2 runs, a home run included, and an RBI. Diego Alvarado went 3-3 with a run and RBI, Bronson Chamberlin added to the offense with an RBI and Ty Ashford had a run as well.
In the second game on Thursday, May 2, Redwood shutout Mt. Whitney in a good, hard fought game at the Visalia Recreation Park. Sam Bower, won the game with 6 innings and 4 strikeouts. Then Hunter Bryan finished out the game. Stats on offense include: Bower going 2-3 including a run, Ty Ashford with a run, Diego Alvarado, Ethan Garcia, Bronson Chamberlin, and Rico Aguirre with big hits to compile for an ultimate Redwood victory.
With a long regular season behind them, the team goes into their first playoff game with a 8-2 league record and 18-9 overall record.
