Aztecs get first ESL win
Farmersville finally broke through, and got their first East Sequoia League on Thursday, April 4 after defeating the Granite Hills Grizzlies 5-4. Farmersville’s Noah Vasquez went 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Eddie Garcia got the win after going three innings. Farmersville had a much more difficult task last night as they hosted the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears. Results were reached after press time.
Spartans lose sixth straight ESL contest
Strathmore has been in the rebuilding stages for a couple of years now with no end in sight with a 11-0 loss to the Corcoran Panthers on Thursday, April 4. Strathmore has not finished with a winning record in the ESL since the 2009 season when they went undefeated. Strathmore continues league play on Thursday, April 11 at home against the Granite Hills Grizzlies at 4 p.m.
Tigers shut out by Golden Bears
There was a time when Woodlake and Sierra Pacific were inseparable atop the East Sequoia League standings. That time has long gone with Sierra Pacific taking the lead, and they demonstrated their dominance on Friday, April 5 by handing Woodlake an 8-0 defeat. Woodlake managed merely four hits in the contest, none more than a single. On Tuesday, Woodlake hosted the Lindsay Cardinals (results were reached after press time) before getting ready for their annual Ron Robinson Tournament this weekend. Woodlake plays the Roosevelt Rough Riders at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
EUHS to host camp
The 4th annual Train Like a Monarch camp is scheduled for June 10-13 at Exeter Union High School’s Smith Gym. The camp is open to any and all students who will be entering the third to ninth grades for the 2019-2020 school year. Grades 3 to 6 will train from 9 to 11 a.m., and grades from 7 to 9 will train from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For any questions, contact head coach Samantha Hilvers at firstname.lastname@example.org.
