Monarchs take second at Buchanan tourney
Exeter’s run toward the Buchanan Tournament championship was cut short by rain on Saturday, March 9. At the time the game was called they trailed the Dos Palos Broncos 6-1. Exeter defeated the Riverdale Cowboys, 10-1, the Fowler Redcats, 3-1, and the Hoover Patriots, 12-1, on their way to the championship game. This is the first loss for the defending Division IV Section champions. Exeter now embarks on a three-game road trip beginning tomorrow against the Reedley Pirates at 4 p.m. Then Exeter heads back to Reedley to take on the Immanuel Eagles in their Central Sequoia League opener at 4 p.m. On Monday, March 18, Exeter completes the road test with a non-league game against the Washington Union Panthers at 4 p.m.
Golden Bears too much for Aztecs
Farmersville lost their East Sequoia League opener on Thursday, March 7, to the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears. Sierra Pacific built up a nine-run lead before Farmersville was able to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Farmersville continued ESL play on Monday, March 11, with a home game win 10-0 against the Granite Hills Grizzlies.
Blazers still search for first win of season
Golden West participated in a tournament at Reedley High School last weekend, March 9-10, and came up short against the Mission Oak Hawks 5-2. Golden West had fallen behind 3-0 before scoring their first run in the third inning. Golden West still has some non-league match-ups before beginning West Yosemite League play, including on Tuesday, March 19, against the Kingsburg Vikings at 4 p.m.
Trailblazers lose at March 9 tournament
Golden West was bested by West Yosemite League rival the Mt. Whitney Pioneers at a tournament game by a score of 10-4. Golden West resumes play on Friday, March 15, for the Mira Monte Invitational against the Woodland Wolves at 4 p.m.
Golden Bears shut out Aztecs 16-0
Farmersville lost an East Sequoia League match-up on Thursday, March 7, to Sierra Pacific 16-0. Farmersville’s Christian Casas had the Aztecs’ only hit of the game. Matt Williamson had the loss. Farmersville begins a string of non-league games this week when they host the Tranquillity Tigers on Thursday, March 14, at 4 p.m.

Caesar wins 3200-meter race at Pioneer Invite
Lindsay’s McKaylie Caesar won the 3200-meter at the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday, March 9, with a time of 11:46.35. She defeated Olivia Herrera of Clovis by more than four seconds.
