Spartans restricted to 57 in D-IV quarterfinals loss
Strathmore’s run to Selland Arena was cut short on Thursday, Feb. 14, by the McFarland Cougars 83-57. Strathmore kept the score close at halftime by only trailing 38-30, but was outscored in the second half.

Wilkinson drops 20 in Monarchs’ playoff loss
Jaycie Wilkinson’s scoring tear continued into the Division III playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 12, but her 20 points was not enough to send Exeter to the next round. The Monarchs lost 61-45 to the Roosevelt Rough Riders in the opening round. Haylee McFall was the only other Monarch to finish in double figures with 11 points.

Strathmore falls short against Liberty
On Friday, Feb. 15, the Spartans’ were eliminated in the quarterfinals round of the Division V playoffs by the Liberty Hawks 75-68. Liberty’s Makani Whiteside led all scorers with 28 points. Strathmore was able to tie Liberty in the fourth, but in short time Liberty was able to retake the lead.

Cardinals on to D-V semifinals after 3-0 win
Lindsay will have a rematch against the East Sequoia League power Sierra Pacific Golden Bears this week after defeating the Coalinga Horned Toads 3-0 on Friday, Feb. 15. Lindsay scored two goals in the second half for the win. Lindsay’s match with Sierra Pacific is to be determined.

Baseball
Exeter hosts batting practice in opener
The Monarchs put the runs on the Tigers 13-1 on Tuesday, Feb. 12, to begin the season. Exeter scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jaykob Acosta went 3-4 with three hits, three RBIs and scored a run. Brian Roach got the win. This week Exeter takes part in the Immanuel Tournament. Tomorrow night, Feb. 21, they host the Liberty Hawks at 3:30 p.m.

YOUTH SOCCER
Registration is open for outdoor youth league
Registration for Lindsay outdoor youth soccer league has begun. There are four teams players can sign up for: U5, U8, U10, and U14. Registration is held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lindsay roundabout. A $60 fee is required to sign-up and purchase a uniform. The last day to sign-up is on Feb. 27 when evaluations are held at McDermont X. Games will be at the Lindsay Sports Complex. For more info, contact Faustino Perez at 805-216-2728.

LITTLE LEAGUE
Lindsay Youth Softball/ Baseball registration
Registration for the Lindsay Youth Softball and Baseball Leagues is open. Registration can be done in person on Saturdays in February from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Olive Bowl across the street from Bob’s Frosty King. The last day to sign up is March 2. A co-ed T-ball league for 4- to 5-year-olds is $50. Rookie baseball league for boys 6 to 9 and girls 6 to 8 is $70. Minors from ages 9 to 11 for $80 and majors from ages 12 to 14 is $80.
