Monarchs of the Week

Each week, Exeter Union High School coaches will nominate outstanding players in each sport. These players will be featured here in the newspaper as well as at Kirkman’s VIP Pizza. This week’s players are listed below.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Bullpups decimate Blazers 78-30
Golden West returned to West Yosemite League play last Wednesday against Hanford. They were dealt a massive blow as they lost by 48 points 78-30. The Blazers were only able to combine for four points in the second and fourth quarters. The loss drops them into last place in the WYL. The Blazers will now host the Redwood Rangers tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Aztecs begin league with win
Last Wednesday Farmersville traveled to Laton for their East Sierra League opener, and came home with a 33-19 win. The Aztecs scored double digit points in a single quarter for only the third time this season when they made 11 in the fourth. Tonight Farmersville will play the Orosi Cardinals at home beginning at 6:15 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER
Lindsay loses 3-0 in battle of Cardinals
Lindsay traveled to Orosi last Wednesday night and failed to score. In fact neither team scored until the second overtime period. That is when Orosi scored three unanswered goals to take the 3-0 win. Lindsay will now open up East Sequoia League play on the road tonight against the Corcoran Panthers at 6 p.m.

BOYS SOCCER
Cardinals score 12 in shutout win
The winning machine that is the Lindsay Cardinals looks to have claimed another opponent. Last Wednesday night they defeated the Caruthers Blue Raiders 12-0 at home. That was the first time the Cardinals have scored in double digits all season. Lindsay will now host the Corcoran Panthers tonight at 6 p.m. This will be both teams East Sequoia League openers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Panthers defeat Spartans 57-41
Strathmore traveled to take on Porterville High School in an inner district rivalry. This season it was the Panthers coming out on the winning side 57-41. Strathmore’s freshman Jazmine Soto scored 30 points in the game. That is the fifth time this season she has gone over that mark. Tonight the Spartans will be on the road as they play the Firebaugh Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER
Monarchs put out Blazers 3-0
Exeter took on Golden West last Friday night, and came home with a 3-0 win. Exeter was able to put away the game with two goals in the second half. Exeter began Central Sequoia League play last night against the Dinuba Emperors. Final happened after press time. Golden West continued their West Yosemite League competition last night as well against the Redwood Rangers. The final score was reached after press time.
