Rawhide split series with JetHawks
By Patrick Dillon
visalia – The Rawhides (17-14) first sweep of the season still eludes them as Visalia drops the last two to the Lancaster JetHawks (14-17) over the weekend to split the series 2-2. On Saturday May 6, the JetHawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Lancaster’s Sam Hilliard rung the top of the barn in right-center field. That lead gave the JetHawks a 2-0 lead, one that Visalia was unable to recover from as the Rawhide lost 4-2.
Then on Sunday May 7, Visalia went into the top of the seventh with a 4-1 lead. But a couple throwing errors by the Rawhide allowed the JetHawks right back into the game 4-3. Then in the eighth inning Brian Mundell blasted a two-run homerun to give Lancaster the lead and the win 5-4.
After a short road trip against the Inland Empire 66ers, the Rawhide will return home to begin a seven game homestand, beginning with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (16-15) on Friday, May 12. This will be the first meeting between the Rawhide and the Quakes this season.
There will be some special promotions over the weekend. On May 12 it will be Mommy Daughter Date Night along with the original postgame fireworks. Then on May 13 it will be Girls Night Out, which will include over 30 booths and vendors around the ballpark. It all concludes on May 14 with the Diamond Dig and Belle of the Ballpark.
