‘Train Like a Monarch’ volleyball camp

Exeter Monarchs’ coaches Samantha Hilvers, Kathryn Hutcheson, and Elisha Sandoval, along with others, are gearing up for the “Train Like a Monarch” camp. The camp will run from June 12 to 15. There will be two sessions for players of any skill level. The first session will be for students entering third and sixth grade and will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Session two will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m. Both sessions will offer three versus three and six versus six tournaments. Applications are due by June 2, and there is a fee of $65, or $75 after June 2.

Hall of fame

Spartans induct members to Hall of Fame

Strathmore is holding their annual hall of fame induction dinner on Saturday, May 27. It will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Strathmore High School will induct Brant Bramer, Larry Crawford, Jakob Duffin, Ben Gartung, Rob Gregor, Shawn Satterfield, and honoring Miguel Guajardo. Tickets are available at Strathmore High School and Harmony Magnet Academy. The price is $35.

Scholarship Dinner

Exeter Alumni Football hosts fundraiser

The second annual Exeter Alumni Football fundraising dinner will be held on April 29 at the Exeter Memorial Building and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and go toward a scholarship that the organization gives out each year. During the dinner the organization will be honoring Ray Strable and Darrel Griffin.

Monarchs split tournament games in Tulare

Exeter traveled to Tulare to take part in a tournament this last week. The Monarchs went 2-2 in their four games with both losses coming in their last two. The Sierra Pacific Golden Bears defeated the Monarchs by a score of 7-4 on April 11 to wrap up the tournament. Exeter entered the bottom of the fifth trailing 7-1 but scored three to close to 7-4. Despite the comeback, that was as close as Exeter got. Exeter also lost in their second game on April 10 against the Sierra Chieftains by a score of 5-3. The Monarchs’ two wins were against the Delano Tigers 14-0 and over the Famersville Aztecs by a score of 17-4.

Spartans comback to beat Grizzlies 4-3

On April 13, Strathmore hosted Granite Hills as both teams continued East Sequoia League play. Entering the sixth inning, the Spartans trailed 3-0. Strathmore scored two and then two in the bottom of the seventh. When the last run came across home plate, the comeback was complete 4-3. The Spartans hit the road on April 18 to play the Corcoran Panthers which went final after press time.

Sign-ups

Registration for Exeter Eels swim team

All ages up to 18 are encouraged to sign up for the Exeter Eels swim team on May 1st and 2nd. There is one requirement for participants is that they are able to swim the length of the pool. Registration will take place at the Exeter Union High School pool from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. First time swimmers will have to be at the pool at 4:30 pm for evaluation.  There is a fee of $80.00 that can be paid at the or a swimmer can preregister at exetereels.org. There are also refundable volunteer deposits and different prices for high school students as well as multiple swimmers. For more information you can count Jeeny Powell at (559) 786-5911.
