Monarchs comeback falls short

The Exeter baseball team continued to struggle against league competition as they lost 5-4 on Tuesday, March 19 to East Sequoia League opponent Central Valley Christian in Visalia.

The Monarchs gave up a run in the second inning and four more in the sixth to trail 5-0 going into the game’s final inning.

The Monarchs put runners in scoring position in two different innings  but came away with nothing to show for it until the top of the seventh inning when Exeter’s Alex Farias reached base on a CVC error.

Two batters later, another error allowed Wyatt Tilley on base before a walk by Eli Garver loaded the bases for Garrett Pendergrast who came through with an RBI single.

Tristan Kittinger followed with a walk that forced in another run, bringing up Cody Tilley who’s two-run single cut the lead to 5-4 with two outs in the inning.

That would be the end of the Exeter comeback effort as the team remains winless in E.S.L. play as they look ahead to the Visalia-Tulare Invitational tournament during Spring Break.
