Boys Basketball: Exeter takes on EYL at Polly Trn.
The Exeter Monarchs have been on fire to start the season. They opened the season on an eight-game winning streak. By the end of those eight games, they found themselves holding up trophies as tournament champions in the Corcoran tournament, by defeating Porterville 62-52, and again in the Dinuba Tournament, as the Monarchs defeated the Emperors 44-43.
In both tournaments, Eli Garver was named tournament Most Valuable Player. Another Monarch who has been shining early in the season has been Cody Tilley who was named to the all tourney team at both Corcoran and Dinuba tournaments.
Heading into the 62nd annual Polly Wilhelmsen Invitational with an 8-0 record, the Monarchs were looking to stake claim as one of the best teams in Tulare County.
But the Monarchs were brought back down to Earth as Exeter took on Tulare Union in the first game of the tournament.
The Monarchs just could not keep up with the aggressive and speedy play from the Redskins as Tulare defeated Exeter 76-40.
In the second game of the tournament, Exeter was up against another East Yosemite League team.
This time it was against Monache. In this game, the Monarchs were held to single digits in three of the four quarters of play as the Mauraders went on to win 46-39.
Exeter still has two more games in the Polly Wilhelmsen tournament, one against Central Valley Christian and another one to be determined. Exeter is now 8-2 on t
