Lois Marie Jackson passed away Aug. 5, 2017 at the age of 79. Lois was born in America, Okla., which is now considered a ghost town, on Dec. 18, 1937. She married her husband Douglas “Gene” Jackson in 1955 in Visalia and the two chose to make Strathmore their lifelong home.
Lois began working for her sister in 1967 at Bob’s Drive-In in Lindsay where the two-worked side by side until their retirement in 2008. For 41 years Lois worked a 4 a.m. shift and greeted her customers by name. With a personal touch, she prepared their favorite food before they even placed their order. Lois had the pleasure of working alongside her two sons, several nieces and any other family member who came along needing a job. Many former employees have stated they learned many restaurant things and life lessons from Lois as she was a perfectionist.
Lois was never idle and known to sweep, clean and cook every waking minute. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lois was very proud of her family and found great joy in providing a home cooked meal to any one at her table. She was very generous, kind and a mother to many.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Callie Mauck, her brother Billie Mauck, and great grandson Andrew.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gene Jackson; two sons, Randy and his wife Lynette Jackson of Mariposa, Calif. and Mark Jackson of Strathmore; two sisters, Lavada Woody and Frances Loyd of Lindsay; four brothers, Cecil Mauck of Bakersfield, Donald Mauck of Strathmore, Elvie Mauck of Independence, Mo., and Marcie Mauck of Porterville; numerous nieces and nephews; and her five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, each who will miss her very much.
A celebration of Life is scheduled for a later date.
