Juan “John” Castaneda
Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28, at Evans Miller Guinn Chapel for Juan “John” Castaneda of Farmersville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Evans Miller Guinn Chapel. Burial will be in the Tulare District Cemetery.
He passed away Jan. 23, in Visalia, at the age of 81.
John was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Brawley, Calif., to Juan O. and Ramona Castaneda.
John came to Hanford at the age of 12 where he was raised. He met and then married Josephine Arevalo in Hanford on Jan. 12, 1950. They made their home in Hanford and move to Farmersville in 1952. He worked for Waterman’s Industries as a bench grinder and warehouseman until his retirement. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He also loved his trips to the many casinos.
John was preceded in death by a son, John Castaneda Jr.; his parents; two brothers, Joe Castaneda and Ernie Castaneda; and one sister, Ampara Hernandez.
John is survived by his wife, Josephine Castaneda of Farmersville; two sons, Pete (Sue) Castaneda of Washington and Robert (Rosario) Castaneda of Exeter; one daughter, Rosemary (Don) Hartman of Visalia; one brother, George Castaneda of San Bernardino; and one sister, Phylis Romero of San Bernardino. John is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
