Obituary: Patricia Ann Moree

Patricia Ann Moree
Patricia was born on June 10, 1937, in Exeter, California, to Archie Lee and Mazine Elinor Mangels. She and her brother Ted were raised in Exeter and attended Exeter schools, where Patricia made many life long friends. Shortly after graduating from Exeter High School she met the love of her life, John Howard Moree, Jr. The two were married on September 1, 1956. Her best friend, Ruth Cunningham, came the night before the wedding to borrow the maid of honor dress, as she was headed to Las Vegas in a secret elopement. Ruth, now Mrs. Sonny Galloway, returned just in time, dress in tow, to be by Pat’s side at the wedding. After their marriage John and Patricia moved to Borger, Texas, to be with John’s family. It was there that they welcomed their little firecracker John Howard Moree III, born on July 4, 1958. Upon moving back to Exeter, they completed their family with the birth of their daughter Kathleen Alison Moree in August 1960.
Patricia held several jobs in the Exeter area including short stints at Exeter School District and Exeter Memorial Hospital. She also worked for many years at Bank of America and later at the Exeter Irrigation District where she retired in January 2000. Throughout these years she also worked alongside her husband as they started and built John Moree Air Conditioning. Pat was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and she especially looked forward to visits with her great-grandchildren. Her love for playing canasta allowed her to keep in touch with her dearest friends when they would get together for card club. She also loved reading and embroidering, and jumped at any opportunity to play a rousing game of chicken foot with friends and family who stopped by. Her family will remember her for her great sense of humor, her delicious potato salad, her Cherry-O Cream Cheese Pie, and her ability to make everybody feel loved.
Following a lengthy illness Patricia left this earth on July 3, 2019 at her home of 39 years, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her son and daughter-in-law Lorna. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, her daughter and son-in-law Cliff Brooks, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren who will dearly miss their beloved “Nannie.” In addition she is survived by many extended family members near and far: sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Chawki Gerges and staff, her team of caregivers at Compassionate Care Home Health, the many helping hands of Kaweah Delta Hospice, and everyone who helped make it possible for her to remain at home until her passing.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Smith Family Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you would consider making a donation in her name to your favorite charity.
