Obituary: Judith R. Stinson

Judith Roberta (Anthony) Stimson of Exeter, Calif. passed away and got her angel wings on Dec. 6, 2018 in Visalia, Calif. at the age of 78. She fought a fierce battle with her cancer and her recent illness. She was at peace in the end.

Judy was born to Robert and Nadine Anthony on Nov. 25, 1940 in Exeter. She grew up in Exeter and attended Lincoln, Wilson and Exeter Union High School, graduating with the class of 1958. She has always been instrumental in keeping tabs on her class and others from high school and gathered as many as she could for reunions.

She married Raymond Stimson on Sept. 4, 1959 and was with him for more than 50 years before his death. They didn’t have children and she always said her friends were her family. She felt blessed having so many friends that loved her and that she loved dearly. She was often overcome by the blessing that flowed from her friends and the love she felt for them.

She is survived by her cousins Carol Lee and Scott Edwards as well as too many friends to mention by name. Her parents and several friends preceded her in death. She had a group of friends that met the first Sunday of each month for 15 years to have breakfast, laugh and share stories. She had a very special place in her heart for her students at the Creative Center in Visalia. Judy loved her small town of Exeter, was a founding member of the Courthouse Gallery and Museum and was still on board of directors until her passing. Judy touched the lives of everyone she met because of her big heart and she never met a stranger. She leaves a legacy of love and will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a Chapel Service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 at Evans Miller Guinn Chapel in Exeter. Donation to Courthouse Art Gallery and Museum or Creative Center in Visalia. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansmillerguinnchapel.com. Services entrusted to Evans Miller Guinn Chapel.
