Obituary: Audrey “Lavon” Robinson
Audrey “Lavon” Robinson, formerly of Exeter, Calif., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 in her room at The Grove Assisted Living in Forest Grove, Ore. She was 93 years old.
Lavon was born March 14, 1925 in Ripley, Okla. to Everett W. Liston and Ethel Gertrude (Cardin) Liston. She was the middle child of three siblings. Lavon attended schools in Ripley and Moore, Okla. The family moved to Richmond, Calif. ahead of her while she finished her junior year of high school in Moore. She came to California in the summer of 1942 with her uncle, Earl Liston, riding in a dump truck. She met the love of her life, Wayne Robinson, in the Richmond Church of God on her 18th birthday in 1943. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1943 then attended Pacific Bible College (Warner Pacific College) in Portland, Ore. for one year.
Lavon married Wayne on July 13, 1945 in the Richmond Church of God. Wayne and Lavon raised a son and daughter: Rodney and Saundra. Lavon was generous with her time playing piano and organ in the Exeter Church of God.
After retirement, Wayne and Lavon liked to travel all over the United States in their RV. They finally settled down in Woodburn, Ore. for the next 20 years. Lavon liked to do quilting and made quilts for her grandchildren. Lavon cherish time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elsie Concannon, and her brother Cecil Liston. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Wayne at The Grove Assisted Living; children Rodney (Gail) of Visalia, Calif., Saundra Smith (Dennis) of Hillsboro, Ore., four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lavon will be forever loved and always missed. Neptune Cremation Service of Oregon provided their service. A graveside service in Exeter will be announced later.
