Phillip Guy Drum
Phillip Guy Drum of Camp Nelson, Calif. died on March 15, 2018 at the age of 62.
He was born on April 9, 1956 and attended Exeter schools from kindergarten through high school. At Exeter Union High School he was active in swimming and waterpolo where he set many records before graduating in 1974.
After high school he went to Foothill Community College and then onto California State University, Long Beach on a waterpolo scholarship. After college he joined the Belmont Shores rugby club. He traveled with the team across the United States, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
He finally settled in Long Beach and worked for Miller Beer as a district sales representative for 35 years. He retired to Camp Nelson where he owned a cabin. He enjoyed his life there, getting involved with fund-raisers for the volunteer fire department, and was affectionately known as the unofficial mayor of Camp Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his father Dick Drum, mother Virginia Drum, brother Richard Drum, and sister Diane Drum. He was a fun loving man with many close friends and he will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the Eagle Lodge, 555 W. Visalia Road in Exeter, Calif.
