Jeffrey Sean O’Neal
Jeffrey Sean O’Neal of Visalia, Calif., returned to his heavenly home on Feb. 18, 2018 at the age of 44. Jeff’s relationship with Jesus Christ, and his devotion to his family came first and foremost.
Jeff was born in Visalia to Steve and Kathy O’Neal on March 21, 1973. In Jeff’s childhood years, he competitively did BMX racing, enjoyed playing baseball and football. Jeff loved participating in Young Life as a high school student; it was there he dedicated his life to the Lord. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1991, where he played basketball and tennis. Continuing his education, Jeff attended COS and later attended Grand Canyon University receiving his bachelor of arts degree. Jeff worked for both Tulare County Probation Department and Kings County Probation Department. He served in this field for close to 21 years.
Jeff was a big kid at heart. His love for children of all ages led he and his wife to foster 27 children throughout the years. Jeff was involved with Visalia First Church of the Nazarene’s sports program, Naz Sports. He was a devout leader in the Youth Department and known as a father to many of the youth. Jeff spoke freely about his love for Jesus Christ; he never held back from sharing the salvation message with others. Jeff’s passion and favorite saying was to “Love Like It’s Your Job,” and he lived this daily.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Kim, son Nicholas, 19, and daughter Natalie, 15, all residents of Visalia. He is also survived by his parents Steve and Kathy O’Neal of Exeter, Calif.; grandfather Larry Smethers of Visalia; as well as his in-laws, Larry and Linda Price of Tulare, Calif. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Arleta Smethers and grandparents Louise and Otis O’Neal.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Visalia First Church of the Nazarene, 3333 W. Caldwell Ave. in Visalia. No childcare is available, so please be mindful if considering bringing your children. Because Jeff was an avid Broncos fan, wearing orange and blue attire would be encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in support of Jeff O’Neal’s children may be made at any Bank of the West branch or mailed to Bank of the West, 2301 S. Mooney Blvd., Visalia, CA 93277. Please make all checks payable to: Jeff O’Neal Memorial Fund.
