A graveside service for Rainey Young, 70, of Lindsay will be held on Wednesday, July 28, at 10 a.m. at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery. He died on July 23 in Porterville.
He was born on April 18, 1934 in Lindsay. He was a resident of Lindsay where he grew up and attended Lindsay Schools. He worked many years for California Dept. of Forestry in various locations in Tulare County, most of the time at Visalia Dispatch and Mountain Home Conservation Camp. He also volunteered with the Tulare County Search and Rescue, and managed the Orangewood Apartments in Lindsay for 18 years.
He is preceded in death by his son, Robin Young; two brothers, David and Bill Young; and a sister, Imogene Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan Young of Lindsay; son, Randy Young of Springville; daughters, Linda Young-Vap of Atwood, Kan., Teri Scott of Sequim, Wash.; step-son, Jake Parnell of Tulare; a sister, Helen Welch of Exeter; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
