PIXLEY – A man who forced himself upon an 8-year-old girl and continued to sexually assault her for four more years will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Juan Nevarez
35 years old

On Sept. 16, Tulare County Superior Court Judge Gary Paden sentenced 35-year-old Juan Nevarez to 38 years-to-life in prison for child molestation. Nevarez will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

On April 4, 2019, Nevarez pleaded no contest to one count of oral copulation with a child 10-years-old or younger, two counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14 and one count of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14. Each count is a felony and are considered strike offenses.

The crimes occurred between Aug. 6, 2013, and Dec. 5, 2017, against one female victim who was between 8 and 12-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Wayt of the Crimes against Children Division and was investigated by Detective Jose Nevarez of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
