Dream Big Golf Tournament raises funds for VUSD’s PULSE Afterschool Programs
VISALIA – Golf isn’t a sport really known for getter your pulse racing, but it can raise the PULSE for middle school students in Visalia Unified.
On Friday, June 28, Visalia Unified School District (VUSD) and Citywide Home Loans – Anthony Gonzales Mortgage Team will partner to host the 3rd Annual Dream Big Golf Tournament and Fundraiser. The event raises funds for the PULSE After School Programs operated at VUSD’s five middle schools; Green Acres, Divisadero, Valley Oak, La Joya and Ridgeview.
Visalia Unified believes that After School Programs play a vital role in providing thousands of VUSD students with a safe and supportive learning environment between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., known to be peak hours for adolescent at-risk behavior and crime.
Students who participate in the PULSE Afterschool Program are provided with homework help and participate in a variety of hands-on enrichment activities ranging from science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), visual and performing arts, sports and recreation, leadership and social-emotional learning.
These opportunities provide students with important 21st century life-skills that complement their learning that takes place during the normal school day.
The Dream Big Golf Tournament helps raise much needed funds for these programs across all five middle schools. Funds are used to provide staff with valuable training and support, program materials, curriculum and student field trip opportunities.
VUSD and Citywide Home Loans – Anthony Gonzales Mortgage Team encourage the community to participate in this year’s event by registering a team to play in the tournament as well as becoming an event sponsor.
Registration is only $100 per player and there are a number of sponsorship options including Tee Sponsorship ($150), Hole Sponsorship (cash or in-kind competition prize donation), or Raffle Sponsorship (in-kind raffle prize donation).
