Cities ‘Step Up’ to offer activities for youth this summer

Boys and Girls Clubs, other youth-oriented groups help Tulare County continue Summer Night Lights program through Step Up for 7th season

@TheSunGazette

TULARE COUNTY – Communities throughout Tulare County are stepping up to bring the Summer Night Lights program to youth and families featuring summer fun activities beginning in June and running through August.

Based on the Summer Night Lights program launched in Los Angeles, the Tulare County Step Up program tweaked the model to create a successful community-oriented hybrid.  For nearly a decade, the Tulare County Summer Night Lights has been largely run by volunteers organizing a variety of activities including pool parties, dances, movies, sports nights, carnivals and much more.

Summer Night Lights’ main goal is to keep kids off the streets and engage them in positive activities. All activities include various activities, games, music and food unless otherwise noted.
