Softball

Monarchs drop third straight game

Exeter has fallen into their worst slump all season. They lost their third straight Central Sequoia League game 10-0 in five innings to the Kingsburg Vikings on Friday, March 29. Kingsburg scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the mercy run. This is the second double-digit loss for the Monarchs after losing to the Hanford West Huskies 16-2 earlier last week. Exeter hosted the defending CSL champs Dinuba Emperors last night. Results were reached after press time.

Softball

Sierra Pacific runs up score on Strathmore

The Spartans have been rebuilding for some time, but last Thursday’s 27-2 loss to the Golden Bears shows just how far they need to go. Strathmore scored both of the runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. By then, Sierra Pacific had already scored 17. Strathmore faced the Lindsay Cardinals last night. Results were reached after press time. Tomorrow night, Strathmore travels to play the Corcoran Panthers at 4 p.m.

Tigers fall to Grizzlies

Woodlake had a scoreless contest against Granite Hills heading into the fourth, but ended up losing 5-1. Granite Hills scored two in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good. Woodlake’s Walter Monroy went 3-4 from the plate. Robby Stevenson had four strikeouts in the six-inning loss. Woodlake played the Farmersville Aztecs on Tuesday, April 2. Results were reached after press time. Woodlake will now tangle with the first place Sierra Pacific Golden Bears on Thursday night at 4 p.m. in Hanford.

Woodlake wins three of last four

The Tigers remain in a tie for second in the East Sequoia League after their 19-6 win over the Granite Hills Grizzlies. Caitlyn Taylore went a perfect 4-4 with three RBIs and scored four runs. Taylore also got the win in four innings where she struck out two. Woodlake had a second place showdown against the Farmersville Aztecs on Tuesday, April 2. Results were reached after press time. On Thursday, Woodlake welcomes to town the first place Sierra Pacific Golden Bears at 4 p.m.

Volleyball

EUHS to host camp

The 4th annual Train Like a Monarch camp is scheduled for June 10-13 at Exeter Union High School’s Smith Gym. The camp is open to any and all students who will be entering the third to ninth grades for the 2019-2020 school year. Grades 3 to 6 will train from 9 to 11 a.m., and grades from 7 to 9 will train from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For any questions, contact head coach Samantha Hilvers at slhilvers@gmail.com.

Girls Soccer

Tigers Alumni contest

Woodlake is calling all past girl soccer players to don the black and orange once more on Saturday, April 13. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with the alumni game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. There is a $30 fee for each player, which includes game t-shirt, entrance, hot dog, chips, and a drink. Gate fees for adults is $3, students is $2, and children $1.
