Kaweah Delta is asking for applicants to join the Patient and Family Advisory Council
VISALIA – One of the most difficult parts of being hospitalized, or having a family member in the hospital is not knowing what is going on. Even worse is not knowing how to find out what you might need to know. The process can be confusing, difficult and frustrating. But there is an effort to reduce the communication chasm between patients and families and their providers.
Kaweah Delta is welcoming applications for its Patient and Family Advisory Council, a group of patients and their family members, who partner with health care providers to enhance services and experiences. Members of the public are also invited to apply.
“This group is vital as they help ensure that the perspective of patients and their families are incorporated into our design of consistently safe, high quality, patient-centered care,” said Ed Largoza, director of patient experience at Kaweah Delta.
Patients and their family members are eligible to join the council, which meets monthly for 90 minutes. The membership term is two years. Members must be committed to collaboration and respect as they co-design programs and policies to address health care challenges and enhance care.
Individuals interested in being considered can get more information and complete an application form at www.kaweahdelta.org/advisory, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 559-624-2463. Kaweah Delta will review all applications and will notify selected members.
