VISALIA – With 15 years of comedy as a stand up, actor and writer Jorge Marroquin, aka DJ Cooch, is now headlining comedy clubs and colleges around the country. 

Marroquin has performed with comedy heavy weights such as Eddie Griffin, Carlos Mencia, Anjelah Johnson, John Pinnet, Pablo Francisco, Russell Peters, Arsenio Hall, Loni Love and Tommy Chong.

In 2011 he was casted to be a host for George Lopez’s “Lopez Tonight Party Bus Tour,” a 17-city state wide live broadcasted promotional tour for TBS Network’s “Lopez Tonight.”

Due to his dedication for the art of comedy Marroquin was inducted into the world famous Improv “Wall of Fame,” one of the most difficult and highest achievements for any comedian to receive. His high energy and outrageous comedic faces are widely accepted by diverse audiences everywhere who have seen him on stage and he’s been referred to by his peers as one of the funniest acts to watch. Marroquin has been featured on TBS, Showtime, MTV, Mun2 and showcased on the Starz Network comedy series “Stann Dup.”

Marroquin will headline his latest show, “Comedy Jam with DJ Cooch,” on Saturday, July 7 at the Visalia Fox Theatre, located at 300 Main St. in Visalia. The event will be hosted by Bay Area comedian Gloria Magana. They will be joined by up-and-comer Kabir Singh and Valley native Manny Maldonado.

Kabir “Kabeezy” Singh is one of the fastest rising comedians in the nation… fresh off his “Comedy Central” Debut on the hit comedy show “Gabriel Iglesias’s Stand-Up Revolution,” Kabir is a high-energy, crowd-pleasing comic with an in-your-face attitude and razor-sharp wit. Kabeezy has won numerous comedy competitions, including taking first place two years in a row at the Bay Area Stand Up Comedy Competition, but most importantly he won the 2014 “SF International Comedy Competition” by coming in first place in all five shows in the Final Round. The fete was a first in the event’s 39 year history which included past competitors such as Dana Carvey, Robin Williams, Ellen Degeneres, Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, Marc Maron, Doug Stanhope and Dane Cook. Kabir has also shared the stage with top comedy stars like Dave Chappelle, Jo Koy, Russell Peters and is regularly on tour currently with Anjelah Johnson and headlines the national “Outsourced Comedy Tour.” 

Kabir has also headlined a night at every major comedy club in California including the Hollywood Laugh Factory, Melrose Improv, San Jose Improv, Brea Improv, Irvine Improv, The Comedy Store, Cobbs Comedy Club and the San Francisco Punchline. Kabir’s stand up comedy has also been televised nationally on The Starz Network and internationally on BBC Network, TV Asia and ZEE TV. Kabir also recently took second place in the World Series of Comedy beating out 500 Comedians from all over America. His fan base has grown year after year and his reputation as a “crowd pleasing Comedian” has been a staple in the Stand Up Comedy Community. He is a much watch talent any chance you have.

Manny Maldonado hails from Modesto, Calif. where he began his comedy career after dropping out of college in the mid ‘90s. His hard work and determination paid off, as he has now worked with Dave Chappelle, Dave Attell, George Lopez and many other world renowned comedians. Manny’s TV credits include B.E.T.’s “ComicView” SI TV’s, “Latino Laugh Festival,” Byron Allens’ syndicated comedy show case, “Comics Unleashed,” and Telemundo’s “Que Locos!” In 2007 and 2008 Manny was selected to perform on the “Crown Royal New Latin Kings of Comedy Tour” with comic legend Paul Rodriguez who he also joined on “comic rehab” in 2009.
