Tulare County Libraries offer summer reading programs at branches around the county

TULARE COUNTY – In the words of Stephen King, “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” They can help build character, discover the surrounding world, and not to mention fun, especially when staying inside during the triple digit heat.

The Tulare County Libraries has once again announced their annual Summer Reading Program from now through July 21. The Summer Reading Program is for anyone who wishes to join from ages 0-100. There is no required reading list. This year’s theme is “Reading Takes You Everywhere.” Explore the joys of the world through books.

In addition to the reading contest, Branch Libraries are each offering a variety of activities and shows to keep your children’s mind active. And it’s all free.

Exeter: SRP events in Exeter will be on Tuesday through Thursday beginning on June, 14 until June, 19. The times of the programs are as followed: Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays, 3 p.m., Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. Event programs at Exeter include Unger’s Karate Academy on June 14, Dungeons and Dragons on June 20, and Star Wars Day on July 5. The Exeter Library is located at 230 E. Chestnut St. in Exeter. For more information, call 559-592-5361.

Farmersville: SRP events will be held on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. beginning on June 14 until June 19, unless otherwise stated. Events include Rock Talk and Rock Painting Party on June 14, Reptile Ron’s Animal Presentations on June 28, and End of Summer Party on July 19. The Farmersville branch is located at 623 N. Avery Ave in Farmersville. For more information, call 559-592-0423.

Lindsay: SRP will feature a children’s, teen, and adult programs. Events will be held on Tuesdays through Thursday’s beginning on June 19 until July 19. The times for the programs are as followed: children’s programs will be held on Wednesdays at 3 p.m., Teen programs will be held on Thursdays at 2 p.m., adult programs will be held on Tuesdays at 2 p.m., unless otherwise stated. Event programs at Lindsay include Smart Phone Art on June 28, Visalia Karate-Do on July 5, and Amine Art on July 12. The Lindsay Library is located at 157 N. Mirage St. in Lindsay. Springville: SRP events in Springville will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday’s beginning on June 14 until July 19. Events include Circle J Bird Watching on June 14, Katie Baker and Assistance Dogs on June 28, and Leo Herrera Story Teller on July 5. The Springville Library is located at 35800 CA-190 Highway Springville. For more information, call 559-539-6307.

Strathmore: SRP events in Strathmore will be held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. beginning on June 13 until July 18, unless otherwise stated. Events include Katie Baker and Assistance Dogs on June 13, Grandpa Magic on June 27, and Reptile Ron Lost Realm Pets on July 11. Only the Fire Department event will be moved to Tuesday, July, 3, at 11 a.m. The Strathmore Library is located at 19646 Road 230 in Strathmore. For more information, call 559-561-4564.

Three Rivers: SRP events in Three Rivers will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday’s beginning on June 15, until July 20, unless otherwise stated. Events include Wild Child Adventure Bubble show on June 22, Fire Department on July 6, and Kids Drum Jam with Keio Ogawa on July 20. The Crafting for Adults event will be held on July 6 at 3 p.m. The Three Rivers Library is located at 42052 Eggers Drive in Three Rivers. For more information, call 559-561-4564.

Woodlake: SRP events will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning on June 19 until July 24. Events include Woodlake Police Department on July 19, Native American Dancers on July 3, and E and M Reptile July 18. The Woodlake Library is located at 400 W. Whitney Ave. in Woodlake.
