Gospel Whiskey Runners will open for country/pop/international singer LeAnn Rimes on June 22 at the Visalia Fox Theatre

VISALIA – It seems like LeAnn Rimes should be entering the twilight of her career, but at just 35 years old her powerful female voice has a lot of music to share with the world. Rimes has been professionally performing since she was a young girl and is the youngest person to ever receive a Grammy Award. Her 1996 rendition of Bill Mack’s “Blue” (1958) earned her the Best New Artist award at the Grammy’s when she was just 14 year old.

Rimes’ deeply emotional voice helped her follow up her remarkable remake with one of the most popular songs of the 1990s. Just one year after the debut of “Blue,” Rimes extended version of her first single on her first album, “How Do I Live,” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and set a new record for the longest-running single in Billboard Hot 100 history, spending 69 weeks on the chart. The song also established Rimes as both a pop and country singer with massive appeal drawing comparisons to country legend Patsy Cline.

And while the young blonde girl exploded onto the American country music scene more than 20 years ago, it is the mature woman Rimes has grown into that has resonated with audiences around the world. Globally, she has sold more than 44 million units, won two Grammy Awards; 12 Billboard Music Awards; two World Music Awards; three Academy of Country Music Awards; one Country Music Association Award and one Dove Award.

Rimes seemed to be set free from her country roots and ascend to an international superstar in 2016 when she ended her contract with Curb Records, the label she started with two decades earlier. After inking a deal with RCA UK, Rimes released her 16th studio album, “Remnants” on Oct. 28, 2016 in the U.K. and on Feb. 3, 2017 in the U.S.

The album debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Independent Album Chart and peaked at No. 3 on iTunes overall charts in its first week. The first single released in the U.S. was “Long Live Love,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Chart and held the No. 1 spot for multiple weeks. While her second dance hit “LovE is LovE is LovE” topped the Billboard Dance Chart at No. 1 shortly after it’s debut, making this her 3rd career No. 1 dance chart-topper. Rimes recently released her third installment of her trilogy of love with her latest dance single, “Love Line.”

The love that fans abroad and at home have shown for Rimes’ more mature style of music yet continues to show off her amazing vocal range and expression should fill the Visalia Fox Theater on Friday, June 22 for a show titled, “An Acoustic Evening with LeAnn Rimes.” In what should be somewhat of a reconnection with her country roots, Rimes will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. after local music fans get a glimpse of the faith-based folk music band Gospel Whiskey Runners who returned to the Valley music scene in December following a two-year hiatus. Tickets range from $30 to $60 and can be purchased at www.foxvisalia.org. For more information, call 559-625-1369.
