Pedestrian killed in Visalia hit-and-run, driver still unknown


Visalia man, 55-year-old pedestrian struck and killed near SR-137 and Road 56 intersection
VISALIA – Law enforcement are on the lookout for a person who struck and killed 55-year-old male Visalia resident near the intersection of State Route 137 and Road 56, at approximately 10:33 p.m. Tuesday, March 6.
According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) collision reports an unknown driver was traveling westbound on SR-137, east of Rd. 56, approaching the man. The pedestrian had been involved in a previous traffic collision and walked away from his vehicle. He was walking northbound across the westbound lane of SR-137 directly in the path of car.
The front of the traveling vehicle hit the man and propelled him westward  where he came down on the road surface in the roadway. The driver fled the scene in an unknown direction. The man sustained fatal injuries due to the collision, and several other vehicles traveling through the area may have struck the pedestrian as well.
