Two with DUIs caught driving from court

VISALIA – Two offenders whose driver’s licenses had been suspended or revoked for drinking and driving were caught trying to drive home from their DUI court hearings.

Those who chose to drive were stopped by waiting officers, cited back into court and had their vehicles towed and stored. The two arrested could face additional jail time, long driver’s license suspensions, along with other financial hits including attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work, and the potential loss of job or job prospects.

The two were part of “Court Sting” operation conducted at the courthouse by the Visalia Police Department. Between 7 a.m. and noon, officers followed people with suspended or revoked license, or those who are unlicensed, from their court hearings back to their vehicles. The other individuals had all made arrangements other transportation arrangements in compliance with the law.
