EXETER – Looking for a place to romance your sweetheart but tired of trying to find a reservation for Valentine’s Day? Why not raise some money for a good cause while dancing the night away with your guy or gal.
This Saturday, Feb. 10 Exeter Responds is hosting a dinner and dance from 6-10 p.m. at the Exeter Memorial Building. Sponsored by Hometown Emporium, couples are encouraged to dress in Western attire for the event. There is a silent auction, no host bar, dinner and dancing. Tickets are $50 per couple with all proceeds going toward Exeter Responds.
For those who are unfamiliar with Exeter Responds, the organization is a grass roots coalition of public agencies, non-profit organizations and churches who originally came together following one of the Tulare County’s gang prevention Step Up Youth Summits at Exeter Union High School in 2009. The coalition includes the Exeter Police Department, Courage To Change boys home, California Cadet Corps 3rd Brigade, Exeter Public Schools, Tulare County Board of Supervisors, countywide law enforcement, faith based organizations and local businesses.
In addition to the Sweetheart Ball, Exeter Responds holds the Thanksgiving canned food drive for the Exeter Food Closet, Trunk or Treat safe Halloween each fall and Camp Choices, a camping trip for at-risk youth, each summer. Exeter Responds invites the community to learn more about this partnership which offers essential services to those in the community who need help the most.
