January 1 – Three River’s annual Polar Bear Dip takes place at noon just off the deck of the Gateway Restaurant and Lodge, 45978 Sierra Dr. in Three Rivers. Free chowder and hot coffee or hot chocolate for participants.

January 13 – 47th annual Falconry Meet by the California Hawking Club from noon to 1 p.m at the Wyndham, 9000 W. Airport Dr. in Visalia. Attendees will be able to view numerous birds of prey in the weathering area and talk with many practicing falconers. January 14 – A Bridal Odyssey, the longest running bridal show in Central California, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wyndham Hotel, 9000 W. Airport Dr. in Visalia. For more info, go to abridalodyssey.com.

January 19-27 – “A musical spoof of all those superhero movies we love to watch,” Superheroes Unite! will be performed at the Lindsay Community Theater, 190 N. Elmwood in Lindsay. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, 20, 26 and 27; a matinee performance is offered on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. General admission is $10; $5 for students. January 20 – Sequoia Symphony Orchestra presents the “The Planets,” featuring the musical works of Ravel and Holst. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Visalia Fox Theatre. Tickets are $22 to $45, go to sequoiasymphonyorchestra.com or call 559-732-8600.

January 20-21 – Tule Gem & Mineral Society’s annual show at the Veterans Memorial Building, 324 N. Kaweah Ave., in Exeter. Gems, jewelry, rocks, fossils, beads and more, including demonstrations in faceting, beading and polishing. The show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. January 27 – Winter Trout Derby – The fish are jumping and ready for the 4th Annual Winter Trout Derby. Children ages 15 and under are invited to Plaza Park Pond to compete for a catch of their own. Reel ’em in! Prizes will be awarded to the top three total stringer weights in each category. Participants need to bring their own fishing poles, bait and tackle. February 13-15 – 51st Annual World Ag Expo at the International Agri-Center. Times: Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $15; children 6 and under, free. For more info, visit www.worldagexpo.com.

February 21 – Way Back Wednesdays’ screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s suspense film “Vertigo (1958)” at 6:30 p.m. at the Fox Theater, 300 Main St. in Visalia. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at ticketfly.com. Free small popcorn to first 100 guests.
