SoCal Edison still investigating cause of outage

Southern California Edison is still unsure what caused a massive power outage that knocked out electricity to more than 14,000 customers in central Tulare County earlier this evening on Thursday, Oct. 12.  In a phone call at 8:10 p.m., a spokesperson out of Southern California’s office in Rosemead, Calif. said the number of customers who lost power was upwards of 14,000 in Visalia, Exeter, Woodlake, Ivanhoe and parts of Tulare. The power was restored to a portion of the customers by 5:30 p.m. with all customers having electricity by 5:45 p.m.

The power outage began between 4:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m.  and affected more than 8,000 customers throughout Visalia, 2,200 in Exeter, 1,700 in Woodlake, 1,000 near Tulare and about 900 in Ivanhoe. The spokesperson said SoCal Edison should know more information about what caused the outage sometime tomorrow.
