Cardinals blank Golden Bears 9-0

The Lindsay Boys soccer team defeated the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears 9-0 on Friday, Feb. 1 in Lindsay. The Cardinals are 8-0 in the East Sequoia League and are preparing for the playoffs.

Lindsay head coach Fode Doumbia said he was looking more at the style of play instead of the goals scored in the game.

“It’s kind of dangerous when you play a weaker team,” said Doumbia. “Each player wants to score and the team is not playing together. You have to realize it’s not about that and don’t let yourself go.”

Doumbia said his team has to stay sharp if they are going to stay undefeated in league and go far in the playoffs.

“Every team is looking to play Lindsay because of what we did last year and we need to be ready,” said Doumbia. “It’s not going to be easy.”

The Cardinals will play in Woodlake (5-5) on Thursday night.
