Aztecs continue to fight toward league title

Aztecs continue to fight toward league title

Farmersville’s Alfredo Vasquez scored three times on Jan. 29 in the Aztec’s 3-3 tie against East Sierra League Rival Orosi.

Vasquez scored twice in the first have giving Farmersville a 2-0 lead before Orosi scored three straight goals to go ahead 3-2 late

in the game.

With less than ten minutes remaining Vasquez took a cross from winger Isaac Alverez and volleyed it into the back of the net for his hat-trick and a 3-3 tie.

For Alverez it was his second assist of the game, and it was the 23rd goal of the season for Vasquez.

“We’re disappointed to not get the win” Coach Michael Jordan said, “but I’m proud of the way the team came back. We’ve learned a couple things about ourselves”

Farmersville got back on the winning track two nights later, beating up on Orange Cove 11-3 on the road, with Pedro Berber scoring five goals and Vasquez adding three of his own bringing his season total to 26.

Farmersville is now 6-0-1 in league play as they prepare to face McFarland then Orosi again this week.
