Cardinals to much for Monarchs
The Lindsay Cardinals girl’s basketball team defeated the Exeter Monarchs 57-27 in a non-league match in Lindsay on Friday, Jan. 11.
The game was very physical and Lindsay held a 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals then went on 11-3 run to lead 21-9 with 2:15 left in the half. Both teams added for points before the half and Lindsay led 25-13.
The Monarchs missed a lot of shots from the field and at one point missed six free throw attempts in a row. They were only able to make six points in the third quarter while Lindsay added 14 making the score 39-19 at the end of the third quarter.
Lindsay players dropped three pointers and shot well from the free throw line to add 18 points in the fourth. The Monarchs added eight to give the game its final score of 57-27.
Lindsay’s Christina Castro led the Cardinals with 13 points.
Lindsay head coach Frankie Arguellas said, “This was a real team effort, everyone contributed.” We needed this win after last week’ loss to Sierra, it puts us on the right track to start league play next week.”
