Monarchs end season

The Exeter Monarchs started off last week in great shape but by the end of the week the Monarchs found themselves out of the division II playoffs.

On Tuesday, Nov. 6 the Monarchs took on Yosemite in the first round of the playoffs. Exeter had no problem with the Badgers as Exeter would take down Yosemite 25-12, 25-13 and 27-25.

In this game for the Monarchs, it was Amber Atkinson and Cidney Atkins leading the way with 3 aces. Melissa Vernon had 11 kills while Jacqueline Hutcheson had 8 kills.

On Thursday, Nov. 8 the Monarchs were back on the court, this time taking on Independence of Bakersfield.

The Falcons defeated the Monarchs 25-15, 25-18 and 26-24 to end Exeter’s season.

The Monarchs had a great season going 25-6 overall and 8-2 in Central Sequoia League play. Exeter will be graduating seven of the 12 players on the team.

Jacqueline Hutcheson and Breeann Sturges will be returning next season to anchor the Monarchs.
