VISALIA – The Valley Oak SPCA’s 28th Annual Walk-A-Dog-A-Thon event promises to be the best and largest yet. Held in Mooney Grove Park on Sat., May 11 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., participants will enjoy a 3-mile walk/run through the park.
There will be a lot of local art displays, bounce houses, face painting, pet trainer demos, onsite grooming, low cost vaccination and microchip clinic, pet contests and games, prizes, and tons of raffle items. Choose breakfast, brunch or a snack from a variety of food vendors, and be sure to shop retail vendors featuring lots of pet items.
Dog owners are asked to keep their furry friends on a secure collar and leash at all times. K-9 water and poop bags will be available. Strollers are encouraged for senior dogs and squished-face breeds. Chairs or blankets are advised for on-grass seating.
There will also be dog adoptions available from various local rescue organizations and shelters.
Special guest this year will be Amanda Giese, founder of Panda Paws Rescue and star of Animal Planet’s hit show Amanda to the Rescue. She will speak on the importance of rescue work in the Valley.
Valley Oak SPCA has partnered with Panda Paws Rescue for many years and some of the shelter’s rescue stories have been featured on Amanda’s show.
Just announced, Amanda to the Rescue is nominated for the Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards in the Best Animal/Nature Show category alongside Animal Planet’s Dodo Heroes, BBC America’s Dynasties, National Geographic’s Hostile Planet, and Netflix’s Our Planet.
