Miss Exeter Candidate: Teagan Bryant
Sponsored By Exeter Whistle Stop Diner
Hi, my name is Teagan Bryant and I am 17 years old and a senior at Exeter Union High School. I have grown up in this small town my entire life. I will be the fourth generation in my family to graduate from Exeter Union High School. I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to grow up in this amazing small community and given the chance to learn firsthand the importance of community and small-town pride. I couldn’t thank this town and the people in it enough for all of the support and opportunities I have had. Running for Miss Exeter is just another opportunity I have gotten from this town. My involvement in this town started when I was only 5 years old. I have been actively involved in just about everything in Exeter, from competing in the lip sync contest every year, to now eight years later judging the contest. I played every city league sport that was offered. Going to the summer camps that the City put on was what I used to look forward to the most. And the pumpkin carving and lip sync contest was an every year thing, I never missed a single one! I’d really like to see all these amazing events to have a bigger turn out this year considering that is what I lived for when I was so young.
During my time at Exeter Union High School, I’ve been part of the varsity volleyball, basketball, and track team. My Junior year of track I got top three in all four of my events and made it to valley. And for volleyball we won the valley championship game. I’m beyond thankful for all the support that my teams and I have received from our tiny, but mighty town.
Beyond athletics, I have been in leadership for three years serving as vice president for two years. Being involved with putting on such things as the special education prom, Pennies-For-Patients, and selling newspapers for Kids Day has taught me so much. In my leadership positions I have learned a lot about the hard work it takes to put on these special events and make Exeter Union High School amazing for all of the staff and students.
While being a student at EUHS I have maintained a 4.0 and participated in clubs such as FFA, FCA, and Community Care Club. I have shown a market hog for the Tulare County fair for four years. Also this last summer I got nominated to attend Camp Royal and experience so many new things.
On top of playing three sports, showing pigs, being involved in clubs, and maintaining a high G.P.A I have a job at our local restaurant, Whistle Stop. I work at Whistle Stop every weekend serving food and bussing tables for “fun”. Dedication to all of this is what I take pride in.
After graduation I plan on going straight to a four-year university to either play volleyball or just to focus on school. I’d love to do a semester at sea to see what’s out there other than our small town charm!
I am honored to be a candidate in the 2017 Miss Exeter Scholarship Program.
