TULARE COUNTY – “Follow the beat” to the Tulare County Fair when Sheila E. takes the stage on opening day in September.

Iconic drummer and queen of percussion Sheila E. is the third act to be announced for the Tulare County Fair’s 2018 concert series. Sheila E. is slated for Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage. All concerts are included with the price of fair admission. Tickets and discount promotions for the Tulare County Fair will launch Tuesday, July 10 at tcfair.org.

“Sheila E. is an amazing performer, an all-around artist and incredible musician,” said Pamela Fyock, chief executive officer of the Tulare County Fair. “Her high-energy shows truly demonstrate her passion for music.” Fairgoers are encouraged to arrive early, as Fyock anticipates a huge crowd.

Sheila E.’s latest album “Iconic: Message 4 America” has been a huge success. In early May, she appeared as a featured artist on ABC’s “American Idol.” Family, faith and music were guiding forces for Sheila E. growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her music career was influenced by her “pops,” the legendary Pete Escovedo and producer/musician George Duke. In the late ‘70s, Sheila E. met Prince backstage. Their Purple Rain recording sessions—including her vocals on the 1984 classic “Erotic City”—morphed into launching her solo career that same year. Her debut album “The Glamorous Life” spun off the Grammy Award-nominated top 10 hit of the same name, plus a second top 40 single.

In addition to Sheila E., the Tulare County Fair’s 2018 concert series announced to date includes Con Funk Shun (Sept. 14) and Queen Nation (Sept. 15).

The Tulare County Fair’s mission is to showcase agriculture and create family fun. The five-day fair opens on Sept. 12 and runs through Sept. 16, 2018. The annual celebration includes scrumptious food, celebrity entertainment, interactive children’s activities, hundreds of animals, a wildlife adventure, a thrilling carnival, exciting motorsports, a rodeo, an impressive Junior Livestock Auction, and more. The Tulare County Fair has been a community tradition for more than a century. For more information visit tcfair.org.
