Three restaurants dazzled the taste buds of Exeter on April 7 at Optimist Club of Exeter’s first Totally Forked. Formerly Chocolate Romance, Totally Forked removed the constraints of having to use chocolate in the ingredients and unleashed the creativity of the chefs of this year’s participants – Café Lafayette, Hometown Emporium, and Monet’s Wine Bistro. Café Lafayette and Hometown both prepared sliders but the similarities ended there. Lafayette prepared a Raclette slider, using an Angus patty topped with Raclette cheese from the Alps Region with a cognac dressing and a side of kale coleslaw. Hometown offered a chipotle slider on homemade buttery buns topped with an olive accent. Monet’s offered some surf to their turf with giant prawns simmered in butter garlic, capers and tomatoes, sprinkled with fresh cilantro.
