Run for a cure on your own time
exeter – There will be no start gun shots or nervous, pre-race jitters at the starting line. In fact, there’s not even an official starting line. For the first time, the Exeter Relay for Life will be hosting a Virtual Half Marathon giving the community a chance to support a good cause while running, walking, dancing or jogging wherever and whenever one pleases.
Participants must commit themselves to a half marathon within 24 hours, starting on Saturday, May 20th at 8 a.m. and ending at Sunday, May 21 at 8 a.m. Runners can sign up for the race by visiting secure.acsevents.org/site/SPageServer/?pagename=relay_donate_now. Make a $25 donation to “Team Valerie” and commit to complete a distance of 13.1 miles The race is open to all ages and participants will be responsible for keeping track of their own miles either on an app or using a Fitbit. Simply choose the starting line, whether it’s a treadmill or a neighborhood street and run, walk or job the race distance. Show the completed miles at the end of the Relay for Life event to receive a medal and swag bag. There will be an award ceremony where racers can pick up their prizes on Sunday at 6:30 a.m., followed by the closing ceremony and final lap. For more details call Doni Conely at 909-4637.
Set a goal for the finishing time and dedicate to run, walk, dance or skip to all those you are running for.
