Sweet Success

Candy Cane Lane is reborn on Powell Street in Exeter, but time is running out to see this year’s displays. The lights on Powell Street came back on Saturday, Dec. 8 as nearly every home from Joyner to Filbert lit up the night with Christmas displays in their front yards and homes. The resurgence of the pride of Powell Street will only last a few more nights before the lights go out until next year. Exeter Police Officer Mark Frick, who spearheaded the community project, said last week’s walking only night on Dec. 13 raised a half-barrel of donations for the Exeter Food Closet. The next walking night is tomorrow, Dec. 19 from 6-9 p.m. He said those interested will park at Faith Tabernacle on Filbert and walk up and back from Joyner along the five-block Candy Cane Lane. The Thursday nights will also feature the Exeter Union High School Jazz Band, the EUHS Choir, local businesses serving coffee, etc.
