Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medical to host Pre-Health Conference on April 4 at PC
Porterville College Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine (CCM) is co-sponsoring with UCLA MEDPEP a Pre-Health Conference at Porterville College on Thursday, April 4 from 2-6 p.m. The theme of the conference is “Let Us Dream, Let Us Rise, Let Us Heal.” Students will be able to hear first-hand information from local physicians and nurses concerning the individual journey they each took which culminated in realizing their health-career goal.
The conference will also provide information on appropriate course paths to follow. Among the presenters will be Dr. Eric Madrigal, Dr. Joel Ramirez, and Dr. Navarro all home grown physicians from Tulare County . UCLA will also provide students with information on pre-med summer programs geared toward the transition from the community college to the four-year university.
Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine (CCM) is a student organization at Porterville College comprised of students pursuing a professional medical career. Two of their objectives are to promote the development of a communication network and support structure for students considering a career in health care, and to facilitate activities promoting academic success, matriculation and pre-health career education.
Anyone who is a high school junior or senior who is interested attending the conference must receive permission from his or her high school. There is no registration cost, but students must register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CCMPortervillePreHealthConference and complete the required permission forms from your high school. Parents are welcome.
College students must register as well at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CCMPortervillePreHealthConference. No permission form is required and there is no registration cost for PC students. Walk-in registration will be accepted.
