EXETER – The dramatic weight of child abuse weighs on everyone in society. That is why even though someone may have never went through abuse as child it is important to put an end to it. But first people have to be aware. And next week the public will get their chance to see how bad child abuse really is.

“The Lisa Project in 10” is a 10-minute, unique multi-sensory experience allowing the visitor to hear, see and experience the reality of the world of child abuse. Through audio narration from a child’s perspective visitors are guided room by room through scenarios depicting abuse. This experience is fully immersing each guest into the world these children face on a daily basis. It is aimed at teaching students about child abuse, its’ impact and the importance of reporting concerns about child abuse.

While the exhibit is not designed to be disturbing, it is eye opening and provides understanding that could save a child’s life. Children under age 13 that come with guardians or parents will be allowed to walk through the exhibit but will not be given an audio device. The result of this experience is a community that is made more aware with positive and helpful steps given at the end of the tour to protect children and strengthen families. The goal is to educate and engage the community to be the voice for children, and to reduce and prevent child abuse and neglect in our communities.
