Kiwanis spotlights Lathen Parker and Monserrat Gutierrez-Farfan as January’s TERRIFIC learners
LINDSAY – The Lindsay Kiwanis Club recognizes Lindsay Unified School District learners who are Thoughtful-Enthusiastic-Respectful-Responsible-Inclusive-Friendly-Inquisitive-Capable (TERRIFIC).
Lathen Parker is a Kindergarten learner at Reagan School. In his first year of school, Lathen has already distinguished himself as a TERRIFIC Learner. Lathen comes to school every day with a smile, excited to learn new things! He completes his homework, which includes daily reading to members of his family. Lathen likes to play football during recess. When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, this six year old says he wants to be a surgeon so that he can help people get well. Lathen has developed that good bedside manner needed as a doctor. And, Reagan School staff agree. Lathen exhibits all the qualities of a TERRIFIC Learner, which will serve him well throughout his educational career and beyond!
Monserrat Gutierrez-Farfan is a sixth grade learner at Reagan School. Monserrat embodies all the characteristics of a TERRIFIC Learner. She is a natural leader who motivates herself and peers to grow positively in both their education and themselves. She is respectful and inclusive to all she comes in contact with. Monserrat is a role model for her peers. She demonstrates, on a daily basis, her strength to take on all challenges, work through them, and have successful outcomes. Her favorite subject is Math; and, she likes all sports. Her career goals are to become a nurse and/or instructor through CSU, Fresno. Monserrat is also part of the Step Up Volunteer Youth Challenge at Reagan School. Members of this group interact with the seniors at Lindsay Gardens.
Lathen and Monserrat were recognized at the Lindsay Unified School District Board of Trustees Jan. 8 meeting.
