Exeter FFA starts egg-citing Enterprise
The Exeter FFA is now offering eggs!
The Farm Fresh Egg Enterprise is run by agriculture students of the TCOVE Animal Handling class as well as several other students in the program including Student Managers Gloria Torres and Garrett Giovani.
The project began in September of last year when day old chicks arrived at the school farm. In the last few weeks the hens of various breeds have come into egg production. The hens are cage free and free range, and they produce hormone free eggs. The freshness of their eggs isn’t the only thing that separates them from their grocery store competitors, each carton can include eggs that are blue, pink, brown, green, and any color in between!
Initially students started marketing to their families, teachers on campus and in the District office. Students will now offer their eggs for sale to the public every Wednesday from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Exeter High School Farm Laboratory, located on Sierra Drive off Kaweah Avenue in Exeter. Additional days may be added as needed. The cost is $3.50 per dozen. Purchases can be prepaid. Make checks payable to Exeter FFA. The Ag Farm offers several ordering options including once per week, once every other week and once per month.
FFA Advisor Nicole Ray said by purchasing eggs from the Exeter FFA, customers will not only be supporting the future leaders of Exeter, but helping students develop their business and poultry production skills.
