Are you ready to rock?

The Tule Gem and Mineral Society will hold its 57th annual Gemboree this weekend at the Exeter Memorial Building, 324 N. Kaweah Ave. in Exeter. The event is a great treasure hunt for the entire family featuring a large variety of gems, jewelry, minerals, books and lapidary supplies.

There are plenty of chances to win prizes playing free games including Wheel of Fortune, where everyone wins, and drawings every half hour. There are also grab bags and a silent auction.

The Gemboree is a great educational tool for any grade from preschoolers full of discovery and wonder to high school students studying science and natural history. There will be demonstrations of wire wraping, the process of using wire and gems to create jewelry, and faceting, the art of shaping gemstones into jewelry.

The Gemboree is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20. As always, the event is free admission. For more information, call Laura at 559-734-3779 or visit www.tulegem.org.
