Pena Planetarium presents ‘Mystery of the Christmas Star’
The Peña Planetarium will present a new program this month entitled Mystery of the Christmas Star.
The five-time Telly Award-winning program takes audiences on a journey back over 2000 years ago to Bethlehem to seek a scientific explanation for the star the wise men followed to find the baby Jesus.
The all-ages public show will be offered on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 beginning at 7 p.m. A tour of the current night sky is included in the evening’s program, along with a live music presentation and an opportunity to join in a Christmas sing-along.
Porterville College clubs present ‘Jingle Mingle’ event on Dec. 7
The public is invited to attend a special Jingle and Mingle Benefit Show from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 at the California Tutoring Company, 23 East Oak Street in Porterville. The event is presented by the Porterville College Art-O-Holics, M.E.Ch.A., PC Pride, the N.A.T.I.V.E. American Club, Porterville Art Walk and WildPlaces.
The evening will feature local artists and musicians, along with refreshments and prize drawings. Attendees are asked to bring donations of canned food, blankets, warm clothing, etc. All donations will be used to help local shelters.
